Plasco Building Wins Continental Award for Shopping Centers at the 2022 Prix Versailles

According to the Public Relations of Payasaman Pars, the Plasco building has won the continental award for the “Shopping Centers” category in Africa and Western Asia at the 2022 Prix Versailles.

This prestigious award is presented annually to honor the best achievements in architecture and design worldwide, promoting architecture as a key factor for intelligent sustainable development, while considering ecological, social, and cultural impacts.

Now in its eighth year, the Prix Versailles covers a wide range of architectural categories from all over the world, including restaurants, airports, university complexes, hotels, retail stores, sports facilities, shopping centers, and passenger train stations.

In the retail, shopping centers, hotels, and restaurants categories, 70 continental winners from six main regions have been announced: Africa and Western Asia; Central, South America, and the Caribbean; North America; Central and Northeast Asia; South Asia and Oceania; and Europe.

The new Plasco building in Iran, designed by an independent architect, participated in this competition and was chosen by the judges as the best shopping center in the Africa and Western Asia category. This building, designed according to the latest regulations, codes, and construction standards, stands at 20 stories with a built-up area of 20,000 square meters, containing 346 commercial units. The Plasco building’s exterior facade draws inspiration from Iranian brick architecture designs known as “Fakhr” and “Madin.”

The Plasco building is equipped with the latest electrical and mechanical facilities, and fire-resistant curtains have been used to prevent the spread of fire to other parts of the building. The new Plasco’s facade features GFRC (Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete), which is lightweight and highly resistant to fire. In total, 96 projects receive the award each year, with 24 of them receiving global titles. The global jury includes internationally renowned figures, including winners of the Pritzker Prize.

It is noteworthy that the electrical and mechanical installations, as well as the safety systems (smoke removal, fire extinguishing, and alarm systems) of the Plasco building, were provided and executed by Tabiran Company.
